COURSE DETAILS: Why Karate?  Karate is more, much more, than learning to fight or learning self-defense skills. Your child will learn the positive benefits of self-discipline and confidence, develop coordination skills, and gain increased strength and flexibility. Teamwork and leadership skills will be developed through group activities.  Your child will develop the ability to listen, learn, and achieve in a structured environment which will be an invaluable reinforcement of study techniques for school, life and beyond. Most importantly, they will learn in a Christ centered, biblically focused atmosphere with emphasis on discipleship to be a true “Warrior for Christ.”

What the class will include:

  • Physical fitness including warm-up, strength and endurance exercises, stretching, balance, and karate basics.

  • Life skills such as discipline, self-control, patience, confidence courage, respect, teamwork, and leadership

  • Self defense skills with emphasis on conflict resolution, avoidance, de-escalation, personal responsibility, safety, and personal awareness.

Classes will be conducted in a “no contact” format utilizing striking pads for punching and kicking practice. Proficiency in techniques will be assessed one-on-one with myself in a safe and controlled demonstration. Rank tests and Achievement Certificates will be awarded as the student progresses through the course (at the discretion of the parent). A year-end demonstration may be conducted to highlight what your student has learned during the year (upon approval of the school and the parent).
