COURSE DETAILS: Join us for an inspiring art class where creativity meets faith! Each student will receive a spiral bound book of blank pages. We will create artwork that illustrates a scripture or captures the beauty of God’s creation. Students can choose from the following options with each piece:
-
Complete the drawing/painting as a stand-alone piece. The book can become a portfolio of the year’s art or pages may be removed as separate designs.
-
Create a book of illustrated scripture and add a correlating Bible verse to each page.
-
Add a tiny hidden character in each piece of art and write a story about the adventures of the tiny critter on each page. Scripture verses may also be included with this option.
We will explore diverse mediums and techniques including paper marbling, tea-stained paper, neon gel pens, watercolor pencils, acrylic paint markers, white charcoal, markers, and watercolor crystals. Some projects (i.e. paper marbling, white charcoal, watercolor crystals….) will be completed on separate paper and may be added to the book with adhesive. Each student will receive a set of gel pens to take home, ensuring the artistic journey continues beyond the classroom.
Most projects are demonstrated with a live camera or video to enable students to follow step by step if they choose. Alternate versions of each project are offered for students who choose to work independently.
Below are a few examples of this year’s projects:
