General Theatre

Teacher: Julie Magalong
Prerequisites: Must be willing to memorize their parts for our Spring Performance

Ages: 8+
Class size: 10-23
Materials fee: $25 (helps to cover scripts, copies, licensing/royalties, props/sets, venue)
Tuition: $30
Homework: Memorization required – see important note below
Supplies Needed: Three ring notebook, pencil with eraser, 2 different colors of
highlighters
 
COURSE DETAILS: This class will begin with FUN theatre games which will help
students feel more confident and build acting skills of memorization, characterization,
improvisation and working well with others. In mid-fall the students will audition in class
for our Spring performance piece which may be an original script written by Mrs.
Magalong or: The Hero of Bingsley Manor, By Tambra Kay Petrie; Light in the Fields, by
Dan Neidermyer, The Death and Life of Everyman by Patrick Rainville Dorn, or Heaven
Help Us, by Tambra Kay Petrie. An alternate play will be chosen if enrollment requires.
Some doubling of roles may occur. Younger students may be approved by instructor. 
Reading is not essential, though helpful.
The dates for the Dress Rehearsal and Spring Performance will be announced as soon
as possible. These dates are mandatory, and parents may be asked to return a signed
commitment form to Mrs. Magalong prior to casting announcements.
 
HOMEWORK: Script memorization, and students and their parents are responsible for
providing their own costumes, (with assistance from instructor) and assist with obtaining
props.
