Ages: 10 – 12 

Class size: 8 – 12 

Materials fee: $40.00 one-time fee (includes copies and all class supplies) 

Tuition: $35/month

Supplies Needed: Traditional type of shoebox lid (example will be emailed at beginning of school year). Parents may be asked to volunteer in the classroom occasionally.   

Homework: Homework may be given, but only in the event it wasn’t finished on time during class time.  

 

COURSE DETAILS: Students will “tour” through different countries learning about the culture, weather, geography, schooling, social customs, language, etc. During their travels, students will keep a “Travel Journal” that will document all they’ve learned during their visit. At the conclusion of each country, students will learn a game from that country, and complete a project related to that country. A few countries we might visit are Ghana, where we will make an Adinkra cloth; Hong Kong (which is not technically a country), where we will learn Chinese writing and make a Bamboo Strip (ancient Chinese form of writing books), Bangladesh, where we will make an Alpana, and a few others during our year together!
