Materials fee: $30.00 one-time fee (includes copies and class supplies)

Supplies Needed: Student provided laptop or tablet required (there will be none available for loan), a power point app/software (Microsoft, Slides, etc.) downloaded before the first day of class, if using a laptop - a device to take pictures with would be helpful, and in addition to the LEGOs that will be provided, they are most welcome to bring in any props that they’d like to use when creating their stories.  

Homework: Homework may be given, but only in the event it wasn’t finished on time during class time 

COURSE DETAILS: This class may sound like just a writing class, but it is not your typical writing class! This class encourages an open-ended, creative type of writing, where not every word is written down, but is told more through the pictures, and the comic book style dialogue and feel. We will be physically creating our stories using teacher provided LEGOs to show the three separate stages of a story – beginning, middle, and end. Students will be given a type of story they will need to create (i.e. a retelling, persuasive, compare/contrast, etc.), brainstorm by filling in a storyboard, create the scenes of their story using LEGOs, take pictures of the scenes, then bring their stories “to life” using their chosen power point app/software.
