COURSE DETAILS:
Ready to outthink the competition? Chess is the ultimate game of high-stakes strategy, and this club is designed to turn beginners into tacticians and casual players into masters of the board. In this fast-paced, engaging class, students will learn that every move matters and every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
Sharpening the Mind
We believe that developing a sharp, disciplined mind is a form of stewardship. Using the principles of Proverbs 27:17 ("As iron sharpens iron..."), our club focuses on healthy competition and mutual growth. We’ll emphasize "Grandmaster Character"—learning to win with humility, lose with dignity, and treat every opponent with respect.
What We’ll Master Together
This isn't just "playing games"—it’s a deep dive into the mechanics of victory. Our weekly sessions include:
-
The Opening Phase: How to command the center and develop your "army" with efficiency.
-
The Endgame Grind: Precise techniques for closing out the game and securing the Checkmate.
-
Logic & Foresight: Training the brain to see three, four, or five moves ahead.
Why Chess?
For students 9 and up, chess is one of the best ways to improve concentration, memory, and problem-solving skills. It’s a workout for the brain that feels like a battle of wits! Each class includes a strategy lesson followed by plenty of "clock time" to put new theories into practice.
