COURSE DETAILS: This Life Skills course is designed to equip students with practical, real-world abilities
grounded in biblical wisdom. Through hands-on activities, expert guest speakers, and discussion, students
will gain confidence, competence, and character needed for adulthood. Course highlights include:

Food Planning & Budgeting
- Plan and prepare a snack to share with the class with a homemade component while
staying within a set budget.

Home Maintenance
- Learn essential household skills including replacing air filters, unclogging drains, resetting
breakers, turning off the main water supply, and responding to smoke detectors through
live demonstrations. Note: Instruction will be held at Christian and Kathy Anderson’s
house, a short two block walk from the church. A permission slip will need to be signed by
a parent.

Basic Car Maintenance
- Practice essential car care skills such as checking fluids, changing oil, replacing wiper
blades, checking tire pressure, jump-starting a vehicle, and possibly changing a tire.

Laundry and Clothing Care
- Learn how to properly wash, dry, and care for clothing, explore the science of stain
removal, and participate in a clothes-folding challenge.

Basic First Aid and CPR
- Learn how to respond to common emergencies, including stopping bleeding, applying a
tourniquet, splinting injuries, assisting with choking (Heimlich maneuver), administer CPR,
treating burns, and responding to poisoning scenarios.

Budgeting and Financial Skills
- Learn how to budget using take-home pay, understand taxes, prioritize needs versus
wants, build a minimum-wage budget, and learn through guided financial lessons.

Workplace Readiness and Career Exploration
- Complete sample job applications and employment paperwork, learn workplace
expectations, and participate in (or observe) a mock interview.
- Complete personality/interest inventories and interactive career stations

Entrepreneurship
- Explore entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and real-world business considerations
through guest instruction.

Understanding Truth and Worldviews
- Study selected apologetics resources, view short video clips, and participate in guided
discussions and mock debates addressing competing worldviews.
